The perfect way to teach the importance of farming, food production and respect for nature is to visit a real working farm.  We have been hosting a corn maze for the past five years.  Since then, many requests have been sent to us about having a spring event.  After a few seasons of planning, we have put together a spring tour.  A greenhouse has been constructed and will be used as a classroom.  We will also have an outside classroom for personal observation of a working family farm.  Age appropriate information on how vegetables are grown, the importance of farming, basic science and biology are all part of a fun day at the farm.

Spring is the busy time for plowing and planting.  April through June is the time to enjoy our gardening program.  This program will have children plant seeds into a small tray of pots using potting soil, plant food, and water.  They will place the tray into a plastic bag that will serve as a greenhouse.  The children will then take the plant back to the classroom to watch the growing process.  Also, they will learn about the needs of seeds, the parts of plants, and irrigation.

Our outdoor tours (weather permitting) will allow the children to visit our other working greenhouse, a tour of farm equipment, and any field crops that are in walking distance on the family farm.  There will also be a small area with farm animals for the children to learn and explore.

All visitors will be given a small snack and drink.  Picnic tables will be available if you would like to bring your lunch.  Please remind children to dress appropriately; they are coming to a working farm.

A treasure hunt using plastic eggs will be available during the holiday season only.  Call for further information and to schedule a date.
